Sophia Loren
Sophia Loren (b. 1934) has always been one of my favorite people. I am re-posting an earlier Tumblr entry as the prior one was “rerouted” by another source. Thanks to the more than 250 people who liked and forwarded this entry on Tumblr!  Now it is back to where I wanted it to be ….
While enjoying Tumblr in fall, 2011, I discovered this gorgeous photograph posted by “The Nifty Fifties.” I decided to post it on my own page along with a few quotations by Sophia that I believe are so thoughtful, clever, and true.
~ There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.
~ Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go much further than people with vastly superior talent.
~ After all these years, I am still involved in the process of self-discovery. It’s better to explore life and make mistakes than to play it safe. Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life.
~ I’ve never tried to block out the memories of the past, even though some are painful. I don’t understand people who hide from their past. Everything you live through helps to make you the person you are now.
~ If you haven’t cried, your eyes can’t be beautiful.
Last but not least, on YouTube I also “favorited” a video segment (2 min., 54 sec.). Watch as Sophia Loren tries to hold back laughter during the dance scene, where she is “showing off” (she covers it up very well).
